After
spending my late teens and early 20's working in random office jobs I
decided to go back to university to study Fine Art; it didn't quite go
according to plan and I changed my mind and decided to do photography
instead, opting for the Photomedia degree at Croydon College - in hindsight
a great choice as the staff and facilities were brilliant and I made some
really good mates who I still hang around with today - after getting a
First and being very chuffed I got a job at Walker Books; making mock
ups of children's novelty books was one very enjoyable aspect! I was there
for just over 4 years and left at Christmas 2008. Last
September I flew to Tanzania to travel and volunteer at an orphanage on
the slopes of Kilimanjaro; whilst there I took lots of photos!

I have recently
spruced up the Sarah Hawkins website; changing the format slightly and
opting for more muted colours. |

Aside from travelling abroad again this year I would like to hold an exhibition of photos from my trip to Africa and raise funds for the orphanage, through organising some events. Im also planning
to return to Lindyhop dancing (great excercise and great fun) after
being a bit intermittent for a few years - i'd like to produce some
work which involves the dance so watch this space. |
